A Message from our Founder

I'm a first-generation, American-born, Igbo boy from Houston, TX. HOUSE OF EEBO was created to bring together the heritage I was born into and the culture that helped raise me. "Kwenu" is the firstborn lifestyle brand in the house.

"Kwenu" comes from the Igbo word for solidarity. But more than that, it's a word that means you belong. Growing up Nigerian in America, it was often difficult to know where you belonged. And for a lot of people now, the world has become a place of distance, separation and isolation.

People don't have belonging anymore.

"Kwenu" has always been a statement and a reminder that you belong.

If you feel like you don't, join us. You're welcome.

Just like the word, the pieces are simple in form but full of substance. We're striving to deliver the best quality garments possible for multiple reasons. "Kwenu," is of African origin; and though Africa is known to be the origin of many things in the world, it isn't often honored in that way. Our hope is that this brand adds a point of view that starts to reframe that. We want the quality of the garments to be in honor of the people, places and contributions from African people that have made this world one we love so much. That's one.

Two, there are enough messages in the world intended to pull us apart. I want Kwenu to be the opposite message, both to the African continent and the world as a whole. Come together. We all know there's strength in numbers. It's about time we move in that direction.

Supporting us by wearing our pieces, recommending to your friends and providing feedback to make the brand better helps us achieve our mission of creating more belonging in the world and reframing the way people think about Africa.

Thank you for being a part of that.

From my whole heart,
